Found a nice little coin shop near me today bought a few things sold some stuff and the man didn't have anything smaller than a $20 but owed me $2 and remembered he bought half's yesterday from a guy so he gave me all four. Sadly two of them were proofs that the guy he bought them from had taken out of their cases for whatever reason.

While I'm talking about half's what do y'all think is up with this one? I've had it for a while just because it looks like this.

It doesn't exactly look like it was plated because its so uneven.

I moved your thread. Kennedy half dollars are considered modern coins, not classic coins.

I think the 1971 is plated and then circulated, maybe one of those gold-plated monstrosities the shysters sell on TV.

Its copper for sure and definitely circulated. Its bugs the crap out of me when people sell those "gold clad" or whatever they call it in the middle of the night tv for a premium. So many people think they are solid gold and I feel like they are duping people because they don't come out and say plated.. Then they tell you something like 24k gold clad or "pure .999 gold clad" that's one I've seen.

Yep got four for face two proofs and two circulated. I know they aren't proofs now but they are still better looking than circulated coins so they feel like they are worth keeping. I'll probably spend the other two or something.

The proofs look circulated, probably pulled by a roll hunter. I have dozens I've found that way, I usually just give them away.
