Found this 1926 Nickel when pulling up bushes near my barn. Too bad its not a 1926-S in this condition

I hope to buy a metal detector soon to go hunting for coins on my property and woods near my property.

My property has a history to it that could turn up some good finds. Original house built in 1890 burned to ground in 1946. The owner then built a new house himself in a different location on property and then built a barn on top of the location of the original house. I have a good amount of land to search and part of a large garden that I was told a small house use to be located many years ago that is long gone and foundation was removed in 1980 to make it farmable land for gardening.

Finding this very good detail condition 1926 Buffalo nickel near where the front of the original 1890's home was located was a neat find. While not very valuable there might be some silver coins whole or melted or even better melted gold from jewelry in the ground when the fire destroyed the home in 1946. The basement of the new house that he built still has some black bits of partially burned wood/coals embedded in the dirt floor in the shallower part of the basement that is unfinished. I plan on detecting in the basement of my house also in this unfinished dirt floor area as well on hands and knees

That coin is in great condition for being in the ground.

It's probably an AU coin too bad about the corrosion. Nice find!

Very nice find.

Last year my wife dug up a 1905-O Barber quarter while gardening in our yard.

I'd bet there are other treasures waiting to be discovered on your property, too.

Good luck on your future hunts. Get that detector!
