I found this last night and thought it might add to the discussion. This doesn't appear to be redressing the die face due to a clash but probably due to corrosion. What I found interesting was the degree that the tool and die guy went to try and remove the corrosion. The high relief of the bust (die) is affected by the heavy removal of material trying to get rid of the corrosion. Looks like a big gob of rust (?) remained near the jaw.

I've seen a few heavy hands trying to polish out a clash. The appearance to the devices is similar.

Looks like Feeder Finger Damage, then over polished. Then the die was put back to work and had some grease with debris on the die making the incuse mark. I've seen this before without the Feeder Finger Damage, just the grease with debris in it:

Note the incuse areas on this coin. That is what I'm seeing on your coin as well. But yours looks polished to death. But they are continuing to use it.

Thanks Coop. I see a bit more incuse/struck through evidence by IGWT. I was looking how Lincolns ear was 'floating' in the field. Caught my eye so now it's part of the "What is it?" category of flip finds.

I was wondering why you called this a 2005 P awsoome nickel clash? It is neither of the descriptive items. (I've done that before also)

Oh, I just figured it out. You highjacked the thread. Maybe the Staff can alter this to a new thread with the correct title?

Thanks staff. You are great!

Yes, this is typical of feeder mechanism damage to the die. The FMD can be seen running diagonally from just below Lincoln's ear into the beard. Looks like the Mint worked hard to get rid of this damage. FMD is quite common but this coin is interesting in that it shows a lot of work put into the die to salvage it.

I do not see any evidence of a strike through anywhere.
