What do you think the fair market value of this dateless / damaged 1916 SLQ would be. It seems that you can find slabbed 1916's starting at $4K all day long but very rarely do you find any that are "affordable" for the common man.

It looks like someone tried to acid date it and the reverse got dissolved pretty bad.

if it's dateless it could also be a 1917 T1.

This one is NOT a 1917 T1. This one has been up on ebay for several months now and hasn't sold. It meets all the characteristics for identifying a dateless T1 from being a 1916 or a 1917.

Read through this.

as already stated, this one has been around for awhile with no takers. It is a 1916 T1.no doubts about it.

value wise, I have seen dateless slabbed poor sell in the 1500 ish range.

The value of this with all the problems? hard to say, my opinion is somewhere in the $350-$500 range. but I don't think I would be happy with it even at that price. Just my opinion.

Diagnostics, even on a Poor level coin, could attribute a 1916.

PO1 and FR2 coins have hammered at Heritage for $1000-1400

No doubt about it - it has all the 1916 Hallmarks.

The reverse was re-engraved over the letters -
only confounding the issue.

This piece has a value - I just can't place one on it.

Unslabbed it should be worth 100 to 150$. In a net graded slabbed (that authenticates it's year of manufacture of 1916) I'd estimate it between 300 and 400$ to the right buyer. Too much damage holds it back. Excessive wear is one thing...acid dating and re-engraving is another.

Not sure why anyone would want that coin but I guess to fill a slot, might be OK. Just that it doesn't look right.

I'd likely spend no more than $100 for it raw or slabbed, but it would depend on my mood since that coin is very rough.
