Were there any Australian $2 coins that were Mules in the year 2000 2004? Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect its counterfeit 2 dollar coin. There was a post earlier where a seller claimed the coin was a mule with 5 cent piece when in reality it was a counterfeit.

That said, please post a photo if possible!

Also an off centre strike can sometimes look like a mule.

There are no known genuine $2 mules however

Here are some photos of coins that may or may not be mules. Please advise, we would be very grateful. Sorry for the long wait.

The obverse die is slightly off centre, allowing metal to force its way between collar and obverse die on one side. The size of the effigy on those coins is the same as the size of the effigy on any other $2 coin, therefore was struck with a $2 obverse die therefore not a mule.
I remember a few years ago someone showed comparisons of size of the effigy on those type of coins and the 5c. The effigy was larger than the 5c effigy and the same as a normal $2.

@ Sally_Coin: I thought my sister had just chimed up on the CCF! That's the sort of coin searching she would do.
I started her collection off with a Melbourne Centenary Florin, but that was forty years ago. She lives on the North Coast of NSW. I have a brother who lives in Kalamunda.

I will have to twist her arm to join the CCF, so we can talk coins a little more.

Definitely not a mule, just an off centre strike

Are off center strikes worth anything or should the coins just go back into circulation?

If they are significantly off centre, I would keep them, more as a curiosity than anything else, they might be worth up to about 5 x Face.

Other less off centre would go back into circulation.

But....always check the edges of them all, just in case you might have found an out of collar coin. Examples below:

$2 1993 Straight Partial Collar - Missing Some Reeding

10c 2006 Edge - Tilted Partial Collar Australian-$2-Coin-Mules-In-The-Year-2000-2004?

These coins are worth quite a bit more, but a lot depends on the condition of the coin. Possibly around $20 - $50, but more if in really good condition. If I were to sell some of mine, I might get $20 or so for each, but to me they are keepers.
