The rim of this coin looks different to me. I found about a dozen of these in a brick. Any idea what causes this? Looks very minor but interesting.

Looks like PMD from a roller machine IMHO. The reverse looks like it might be a Greaser, a small one. You found these in a brick? Maybe the building was built in 1968?

Are all in the same location on the same year? Or are they random years in different locations. Some events can cause damage on coins. slot machines, coin counters, vending machines and probably more things. But the lines seem to follow the rim, so I feel it maybe a mechanical issue that caused the damage.

I have posted similar coins with rims like that I've heard finning and PMD and things like that coin was in a holder for a necklace. Good luck with this one

If you have multiples, then it is probably a collar issue.

May even be considered a large "rim Cud".

A rim Cud would be raised. This is more of an indent on the rim from a raised area on the collar.

The collar only comes in contact with the edge of the coin and not the rim so I think the raise area is a rim Cud as John said and the line on each side of the Cud is from the obverse die..
