Poll Question
Now that the 2015 March of Dimes Special Set release furor is over, I figured I would take a poll to see how the U.S Mint retail site performed under pressure after its revamp in October of 2014. The first big load test was with the Kennedy 4-coin set released in late October 2014. I didn't have any issues with that and I don't think I heard many (if any) complaints.
Today was a bit different. I saw all kinds of mixed results in the March of Dimes U.S. Modern and U.S. Commemoratives threads.
Please only vote if you used (or attempted to use) the U.S. Mint retail web site to purchase the 2015 March of Dimes Special Set today between noon and 2PM Eastern. If you didn't purchase (or attempt to purchase) the MoD set today between those hours, please still feel free to comment.

Honestly I was expecting the new web site to be bullet proof but I was surprised to experience long wait times to load pages. I was able to roll with the punches though and got my order in before the set went to back ordered status. "Minor Issues" was my vote.

The frenzy was quite similar to last year's first day of ordering for the BHOF coins. Similar numbers and impact between the gold (50,000) and the MoD set (75,000). Whereas last year's ordering process was absolutely tortuous in taking over an hour to complete a single order, the page not found glitches were minor annoyances with a simple reload and refresh solving the issue and completing an order in five minutes during the first thirty minutes of sales. Which is not bad as the system was handling 250-300 orders per minute during that time. It worked more or less as the designers intended to handle the excessive volume.

I logged on at 12:27 and had no problems Getting 2 sets and a mint and proof set. I have to give the mint an A for this.

I logged on right at 12 and it took me 15-20 minutes to complete my order. I had the phone in my hand ready to call the mint when I tried to complete my order one last time before it finally worked. I was thinking there was something wrong on my end since I was getting the page not found error. It was frustrating but at least I got my set ordered before it went to back order status.

I put major ... because the description best fit the problem I had.
I started right at noon
I had gotten to the final page about 10 times, then it would fail.
The mint site is getting better .. but is not seamless.
I only ordered two sets .. but I am hoping for a sell out and like to see the sets go up in value.

I was logged into the site before noon. Started the process at noon by selecting the coins I wanted. Everything was fine until I tried to confirm during check out and would receive page not found. I went through this process 4 times until it finally worked at 12:05. There are still lots of issues with this site that need to be corrected. Not just ordering, but also with the out of stock, back order and sell out status of the product. There should be a running ticker on any product selling 100 K or less ( or any product that there will probably be an eventual sell out ).

The only problem I has was that I forgot to select the billing address the first time I tried to complete the transaction. Second try went through fine. It was not instant, but it went through and I got the e-mail in less time than it took me to click everything.

Absolute failure to be able to order while logged in, smooth sailing once ordering as a guest.
