I don't remember where I got it, but a late-night order of fries seemed like a good way to spend it. The manager said it looked old and asked if I was sure I wanted to use it. I took her advice and left hungry. Similar(?) 1934 $100 bills on ebay are listed from about $120 to thousands of dollars. Any suggestions on where this one falls?

I'm not a paper currency guy but that note appears like all $100 notes circulating prior to large portrait design. The Series of 1934 notes ran for decades but I'll be interested in a currency collector's comments about it. It does appear to be in quite nice condition for an older note. Where did you acquire it?

It does look to be in nice condition, and it also looks like the somewhat more desirable light green seal. With that said, there's not too much of a collector's market for them, and it might be hard to sell. I'd still hate to just spend it though, and there's probably someone out there willing to pay for it.

Looks like it would be a keeper if I owned it. Nice condition ....looks XF to AU'ish.
Value is anywhere from a few dollars over face value if it's a "non-mule" to 50 to 100$ over face value if it's a "mule".
To determine if it's a "mule", a scan of the back of the note is needed. (Basically, a "mule" is a note that has different size fonts of the plate numbers.)

By the way, a big "welcome!" To the CCF!
We are straight shooters and tell it like it is (most of us, anyway!)

Thanks for the welcome, and all the information! So much to learn. Not sure if I'll keep this as a hobby, or let this bill go to someone else. Now, off to research mules......

There weren't any mules for 1934 plain series. Serial number range indicates this is a dark blue-green seal variety. Listed as $120 in VF and your note is very close to that condition. I'd hold on to this one.
EDIT: I'm dumb. DGS notes do have a mule variety, but this is non-mule. If it was a mule, you would definitely have a keeper.

If you sold it for the full $120 value on ebay, you'd end up giving them 13% with fees. That's $15.60. Then you'd still have to figure out how to ship it safely. Not sure you could break even with face value.

For this dark blue green 1934 series anything from back plate number 1 through 112 is non-mule; anything from 113 and up is mule. (This is according to the 10th edition Schwarth/Lindquist "Standard Guide to Small Size US Paper Money") It would be tough to make any money on this selling it through ebay. Enjoy it and just let it be in your budding currency collection that you have just started!

If you really want to sell it, consider seeing what a local coin store offers or search for any local coin shows and shop it around there. As previously stated ebay isn't worth it at its current assessed value.

That's what I get for rushing a reply 10 minutes before I have to be somewhere.

Nice looking bill.
But I would spend it.
Not enough premium to keep it, tying up $100.
