Two of my favorite sets.
Way under rated on price too.
Great looking coins.

Great job I bet that took some time and effort! Quote: ( wonders what it would be like to actually complete a set ) Same here! Granted, I've finished my LMC set, but everyone has that done or can do it in a single box...

Quote: Way under rated on price too. No. There were so many made that demand will most likely never exceed supply therefore they will always be inexpensive. The exceptions to that are the few that just have to have MS-67 or better, PF-67's and cameo proofs which will have a very limited market. This is my opinion and there are others who may disagree.

Thanks for all the replies. I know the State Quarters aren't highly collectable, but I am in the group that thinks these are beautiful coins. Majority of my State Quarters came from broken up proof sets, the main exception was the 1999s which I bought as a lowball auction. I am working on an AU 7070, we'll see how far that gets. Thanks again for all the replies.

I think the mintages of both silver Ikes and silver proof quarters are fairly low. Now they are low compared to non proof coins, compared to other proofs, not as much. Here are the mintages I copied and pasted for the US silver proof sets. Fairly low all around. 1999 804,565 2000 965,421 2001 889,697 2002 892,229 2003 1,125,755 2004 1,175,934 2005 1,069,679 2006 1,054,008 2007 875,050 2008 763,887 2009 697,365 2010 585,401 2011 574,175 2012 395,443 2013 419,720 Now as for the silver proof quarters, I don't believe the above figures include the silver quarters sold as just the quarters lens only. That would make the silver quarters a higher mintage than say the silver Kennedy in the silver proof set only. Still though, I think the silver State Quarters are very collectible and something everyone should have a set of. You can put together a nice set in OGP for roughly $500. As for supply and demand, I don't disagree. I do think that demand is slowly being chewed up though. These are sold for just a hair over junk silver at the moment. Also for demand, these are great entry level sets to convert silver stackers into coin collectors. I think that is the best growth opportunity in numismatics, converting stackers. I don't see the silver proof quarters going up to be high priced individual coins. I do see them having a greater percentage appreciation than say similar priced Washington quarters, say 64 proofs and BU's. I do believe the Ikes are way under valued though. I think as the kids that collected in the 70's and 80's come back to the hobby, the Ike will stand out. I know it did for me (born in 1971). It annoyed me that the proof set I had for my birth year didn't have the proof Ike. Always wanted one, but never bought one as a kid. Maybe it is just the '71 thing biasing my opinion. Who knows.
