I was looking at this auction and from the pictures I can't see the dot close to the 7 where it should be. It may just be my eyes however. Any opinions on whether this is the actual dot variety or not?

If it was a genuine variety wouldn't it be worth more slabbed instead of being sold raw? Think about it.

Most likely yes. I am familiar with this seller and his overestimation of grades. His coins usually go for the same as if they were slabbed though and wouldn't send a coin out to be graded. According to coins and canada right now the variety is worth more in VG-8 than VF-20

Is this just an error?

It is almost impossible to tell if there is a dot there from the pics due to its small size.

The funny thing about asyn is that if you say anything at all about the grading to them, they block you from bidding for good.

Of coarse you cant see that dot, asyn just loves to sell unclear images of coins and rip people off half the time.

There was a time where they were better but now, how I put it is that they have gone way down hill.

One time I bought a 1935 dime from them and it had to of been in MS-60-MS-62 condition and I had it shipped with a 1934 VF 50 cent, When the two coins got here the dime was replaced with a 1944 dime and they said another buyer got my coin so they told me not to send the dime back but that they would get mine back from the person who got it and send it to me. I never got that dime, asyn is as trustable as there grades!

Thanks thedollarman, I think I will continue to wait until I can find one that is more of a sure thing.

True Normic. I used to buy a fair amount of lower grade coins for them to help finish some sets I was working on and got some pretty good deals. Now their prices seem to be a lot higher and I haven't bought from them in a long time.

I bought some UK pennies from them a few years ago and they never showed up in the mail. A while later I saw the same 3 lots of UK pennies for sale with the identical pictures, it was clear as day that these were the exact same ones I had won the auction on about a week beforehand. I messaged them about it expecting to get banned from bidding (from everything I had heard about asyn) but surprisingly they gave me a refund and I was still able to bid on their coins afterwards. That's the only real problem I have ever had with them, but as you said I guess you have to be careful with the unclear images and be cautious.

I asked for a better picture showing the dot. He said that "Dot is there guaranteed". Good luck bidding.

If it's there, they should show it to their buyers IMO
It is ASYN after all.
