I'm a rookie so you can completely ignore this but I figure it can't hurt to try and compare my intuition to expert opinions. MS 62? It seems really nice on the flat surfaces but also seems to be lacking detail on the raised portions. Very cool mint error though.

Quote: Very cool mint error though What error, what did I miss? I think I seee a small die crack near the rim at 1 o'clock on the obverse. Looks like LDS and low MS.

no mint mark issue! Major error. Nice MS62 and a great example of the " weak " variety.

Carefully take it out of the 2 x 2 without scratching it by the staples and take some more images. I have one these as my clad Roosevelt dime in my major type collection. Cool variety!

I will be thrilled with an ms62 I thought it may be close...a paid probably au55 price from an lcs after little haggling-i will take it out later when I'm home for better pics as I will need to take it out when I submit it soon anyway-i know why you say weak variety and I'm fine if it is but that die crack at 1 oclock is only supposed to be from the strong variety-will find out soon enough tho I guess

He had 2 there in similar condition when I inspected them I spotted the die crack that I know he didn't know about and the very least proved the authenticity for me so I went with this one

It looks lime the weak date variety. The base of the 2 is not fully struck. COA? I have heard peddlers on late night tv offering COA'S on their wares. Will you show us the COA? I am not knocking it, I am curious about this one.

It does look like the weak variety but there are mushy date strong strikes and the die crack at 1 oclock tells me it is the strong strike variety but we will have our answer in a few weeks for sure...COA? What are you talking about with the COA?

Oh,if your referring to my stating the die crack proved its authenticity...you misunderstood me...i am certainly not certain of a strong strike I only meant when I saw the die crack that I am familiar with on the '82 that I was certain only of it being a genuine no P dime not certain of a strong strike

Yea this is not a MS coin. Too much wear and the weak strike will take away I grade I think. Au55. Nice shiny silver penny you have there.
