What exactly is this in terms of coin and is it real as well as worth? Thanks!

It appears to have the reverse milled to remove all design and the top drilled/milled for a ribbon or chain. Just guessing. I would look for edege marks from a lathe chuck.

Anyway, even if it did happen to be an error, that hole would have eliminated any bit of value. Sorry, but it's worth almost nothing over spot.

Looks like someone was trying to make a love token (or something similiar) out of it and never got to the engraving part.

Maybe they got desperate and needed to spend the dollar for something more important.

You can see the rounded circle marks on the back. Probably someone loaded it up into a machining lathe and had a way with her. Awesome tool, not so awesome for coins!

Ouch, a love token with no love. I wonder if the couple broke up while he was working in it?

By 1921 love tokens were very much a thing of the past so it's kinda unusual in that sense. Maybe it was an old man who made them in his youth? Just a thought
