Hello Chris, I'm Brandon...didn't mention that in my own intro...I've taken long pauses through the years as well, though not 30 years. It's always fun getting back into it. Until about 10 years ago or so I only collected circulated world coins and a few older US coins just for fun. Now that I'm a bit older and earn a wage, though admittedly modest (I'm an adjunct and teach privately, too), I've slowly built up a decent collection of bullion which is comprised mainly of coins I either find interesting, or simply for investment's sake. Never really sold anything, though. I just buy here and there. Still a lot of fun, even if I can really justify nice 1 oz gold coins at present. Silver and fractional gold works, too, I guess. How are the local shops where you are? I'm learning that here in the Kansas City area that even those that are supposedly reputable are kind of sleazy. I guess I can't say I've NEVER sold anything. I sold a few coins today to test out a shop I have been checking out. Just a few silver pieces. The vendor was going to short me $30 until I explained that his calculations were way off. I had then look at a '97 1/4 oz Krugerrand proof I picked up a few years back and was treated like I was pushing counterfeit coins because the guy behind the counter, who looked like he was in his mid-20s had never seen on from that year come through the shop. I had to explain that the odds were unlikely that not only had one likely never been through their shop, but likely never would be again because there were only 1440 or so of them minted that year and it's a big planet. lol So, I'm still looking for shops around here where people have a clue. They're often okay to buy from, but I'm not sure I'll be selling anything around here anytime soon. Cool that you're back into coins again. They are a lot of fun, and you meet interesting people along the way. Nice to meet you!
