Hello I've only just now registered for this forum and I also participate in the Stamp Community Forum. I'm a retired USAF officer and taught High School for years after my retirement. I collected coins as a boy, but had a 50-year hiatus until about 3 years ago. I've completed an
SBA dollar collection as well as
Ike dollars, and (to date)
Presidential dollars. I'm currently working to complete my Jeff nickel set,
Roosevelt dime,
Washington quarters,
Buffalo nickels, and have a (mostly) complete
Lincoln Penny set (I'm probably missing the same pennies many of you are). My collecting is motivated by history rather than investment. I'd rather own 6 Good/Very Good - Fine
Buffalo nickels, than one AU. My most recent acquisition is a
1792 Spanish 8 Reales Milled Dollar. As you probably know the 8 Reales is considered by many to be America's first silver dollar and was actually still legal tender until well into the 1800s. Every time I hold this coin I marvel at whose pockets it could have inhabited - Washington, Jefferson, Franklin, Benedict Arnold? The weight and size are even more impressive to me than a
Morgan dollar. The buying power it held in its day was huge. I'd like to have it
TPG'ed one day but can't justify the expense at present. Early Type coins thrill me. Thanks for letting ramble and be a part of this community. Jack Jackson ANA3180204
