In my attempts to gather a small collection of silver I've collected perhaps a dozen or so artistic spoons. Some are the made to be collectible other just cool details/ style.
Do others here collect the same. Is there an opportunity to trade coins (circulated face silver or bullion) for interesting spoons / forks etc?
I've made a few rings with some.
Call me curious Liverpool

I started with a baby spoon...then got a baby fork...then baby cups...then a really nice Gorham King Edward fork...lol Yeah, there's some cool pieces out there. I'd love to get a sterling silver flask, large-sized cup, or some sort of fancy bowl.
Silver is naturally anti-microbial so we'd be healtheir if we all ate/drank out of silver.

I can't say that I've actively sought silver things to collect but I've accumulated quite a bit. There were some wedding gifts and other gifts. There's some jewelry. I bought a used silver pitcher at a fundraiser (white elephant) auction. Then I inherited two sets of silver flatware. None of it is all that interesting and I was surprised that most of it isn't worth all that much. I'll probably keep it and someone else will inherit it. LOL

One of the spoons was badly bent so I made a ring.

Damaged spoons sometime become rings for my amazing girl. Sometimes a spoon just has to become a ring. that's it, Never thought I'd be a spoon collector but they have a lot of history. I also have an amazing demitasse coffee spoon set with little golf clubs on each spoon but they are stored out of touch at the moment. Is you would like to see what they look like others have them for sale on ebay.

At garage and estate sales, I have found few coins, but I have found a lot of sterling spoons, forks, S & P shakers, candlestick holders, jewelry, etc. Many I have gotten very cheap ($1 or 2 each), in other cases around 25% under melt value. Never a complete set, just a few pieces here and there. I have been selling most for scrap and Ebaying some of the nicer stuff. I then reinvest in coins, lowering my DCA by quite a bit. Silver spoons and forks do have a real beauty to them, I have thought of saving at least one to use to stir my coffee etc. Liverpool, you have some really beautiful spoons, yes indeed.

Those are some beautiful designs. It would be hard to pick a favorite out of them. I really like the handle on the Calgary, the overall designs on the Milwaukee Library, and the Niagara Falls piece. Thanks for sharing these pics with us.

Thanks for the comments, I buy some collectable RCM coins but I'm finding them very expensive so it's rare that I buy them now. I like interesting bullion, old bars, art bars, KOOKs, pandas, and so on. No matter what it always comes back to two things. Silver and art. The silver protects at least some of my investment and who knows I may (long term) make a few bucks. The art, who can say, I like the art. The designs and engravings on these spoons are easily as nice as most coin / bullion products and the cost is very reasonable. My cost runs from $3.00 to about $6.00 each Canadian, SO, who else has some spoon pictures?

Thanks for sharing all the pics.
Those are really nice to look at and I can see why you got them -- I think I would have done the same.
