coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 05/29/2015 10:41 am Try rubbing on the rim. You can see the silver color come through quicker on the raised devices. Also the color would be as dark as a cent if this were a missing cladding. On the coin found outside, this silver color comes through quicker. Not so on the missing cladding examples. koinpro Pillar of the Community United States 1781 Posts	Posted 05/29/2015 10:44 am I found these outside in the grass near my vehicle. I find them every year after a thaw. Same effect though many coins may be a bit different than here depending on the retirement were found. No I didn't find the War Nickel on the ground.
