Anyone else have some Presidential small dollar errors?

I picked up a slabbed 2007 Adams double edge letter (inverted)
yesterday. I did forget I had this one, but I do like it
better having it in the slab. I do wish it had a grade.
The slab must be from one of the TV shows that hawk coins.
Based on the number it is from a bulk submission, with over
200 other coins. I started thinking I would just put the
2X2'ed coin into the someday sells stack. But I did notice
that they are a little different. The slab edge letters are
inverted and the 2X2 are overlaid. I will have to think about
if this makes a difference to me.

That's cool - does this mean it went through the incusing process twice with the coin flipped on the second pass?

There is no incusing process. The edge die presses it into the edge during striking.

Do a little research, SSK, and you'll find that's true ONLY for proofs. Business strikes go through a separate incusing process. This is why we have the A and B 'varieties'.

GR58's first two coins are not proofs.

I know the lettering was added to the coins in a seperate step from
striking, for business strikes.

I am not sure of the exact process, I can imagine the planchets or coins
were dumped into a hopper and fed into a machine to add the edge lettering.
I am not sure if it was done before or after striking, my guess is before
striking. The first year some missed the lettering process and some were
put through twice.

There is a web site that has some good information on these, I will
have to find the link. I have read there are estimated 8,000 to 12,000
of the double lettered coins.

There is a proof error, it has the lettering out of sequence.

There is also one business strike with the wrong date. I think one of
the 2009 coins with a 2010 date.

Edit - CK ....yes the inverted (slabbed) one has one set of edge letter
right side up (position A) and a set of edge letter upside down (position B)
The coin that was in the 2X2, has both edge letter strikes in position B.

I found the link that has some information on small dollars.

Also I think the positions I posted were backwards.
