This feature is incuse. It does not appear to be PMD, but I guess it is possible. Could this have been a depression in the planchet prior to striking? The coin weighs 2.55g

But the feature is incuse - wouldn't that mean it could not be a die chip?

The depth of this is as much or slightly more than the depth of Abe's inner ear on a well struck LMC. It appears to be essentially a uniform depth of about 0.4 mm.

It's not a die chip.
Maybe it is a bag mark.

I just discovered that this cent has a slight rotation - about 10 degree CW.

10 degrees has no added value but keep it if you like.

It looks raised on my in. Optical illusions bite me all the time.

If incused I would think struck through or watch for a defatted gas bubble as well. Rookies thoughts. Thanks, Doug.

PS: Rotation though not high degree is a bonus.

Thanks John1. I think added value may begin somewhere around 45 degrees or greater.

On the topic of rotations...I found the 1994 cent that is notorious to have about a 165* rotation.

The cool part about it was it was found detecting. That's why I always check even my zincoln's.
