I found this in a roll of Indians I bought a while back and was going through them. I always pull any 1909 out and place in a tube. I flipped it over and seen it has an S. It looks cleaned or polished. Any thoughts if it looks real or a bad joke, someone plcing it in the roll? Thanks Ken

Looks like the mint mark is fake, haven't studied this coin enough (at all, really) to know if it's fake or not. Looks like a details coin, though.

The S appears to be of the right style and thickness, and although the obverse is well worn, the first feathertip seems especially flat, which is a characteristic. It could possibly be real, but there are so many fakes of this issue that I'd hate to venture an unqualified opinion without looking at it in hand.

I agree with Coinfrog about the mintmark looking alright and the first feathertip flatness. So no red flags from me with regards to the obverse.

But the reverse looks quite mushy in the details that I am suspicious of, so I wouldn't be confident in calling it authentic because of this.

The feather "flatness" is especially important because it is not found on the Philadelphia version. Too bad there isn't a little more meat on the bone here. But it's easy enough to send it in for grading.

Gosh, looks real at first glance.

Yeah ANACS is having a free grading special now .....2 free grades and all you do is include return postage. You can have that authenticated for $20.

Go get some more rolls and don't tell anybody where you get them from

At first glance the reverse didn't look 'right' to me, but the obverse looks pretty good.
Also, like the others said, something about the mint mark.
Rest in Peace

Looks to me like one to send in. It may have been buffed or something at some point, but I think it looks genuine from here.
