You overpaid a bit, but not by much as long as the coin is problem-free.

I would recommend that you do not bid on any coin that has photos that you can not tell the luster and grade of the coin. Based on the information that is available from the photos the price you paid appears to be fair, but it looks like there could be a couple of large scratches on the obverse field.

I'd estimate between $25-$30 at present for an XF+ 1935 at most coin shows.

I used to get caught up in the chase also. LOL Now I just set my best price ( ebay) and let go.

Bid your maximum, then watch the fun. But don't bid again.

The coin is XF, and looks scratched and polished. I would have bid $25 maximum. I lose, and I move on to the next auction and bid $25.

Usually there is a VAM premium. Frequently in the time spent identifying the VAM, but occasionally in monetary value.
