Hello

This is another coin I had come across and I held onto it. Would this be a Machine Doubling or an error coin? I have other 1958's and they don't look
like this one. Anyone have any idea about this coin?

I took pictures the best I could with my phone camera. I hope they're not to
blury. The third image looks like he has two chins (to me anyway)

Thank you

Hi Sadie, looks like possible Die Deterioration Doubling to me but fyi, questions like this about a modern coin should be placed in the moderN errors & variety forum. The experts for this question hang out there primarily

Your 4th pic down looks like possible splitting but

I think the 4th pic is a picture while the camera was moving. I don't see any hub doubling.

Thanks guys!

I was on my old lap a little bit ago and wrote a message but lost it so I'll try this again from this lap top.

@ Cascade- Thank you for helping me with the forums. I've been messing
up with where I post them. Hoping in time, I'll get to know the different forums better.

When you mentioned about the splitting, what does that mean?

@ aardspeed- Thank you. I love this coin. It may be one of no real value
but I love the looks of this one. Over the years I've been picking out coins
I've come across, just don't know a lot about them. I'm now addicted.

@SilverStacker- Yeah I don't take the best pictures. I can only hope they'll
be clear enough to be able to make out what's there and what's not there. Maybe in time I'll invest in a better camera in hopes that it might help.

Did any of you guys see on the third image a double chin? Or is that just me?

Thanks again guys

Even far away this DOO-001 is stronger than your coin:

Thank you Coop

That's a beautiful 1958! No, mine isn't strong like
that- that I can see anyway. With a 1958 is it possible
to see the doubling with the naked eye? Cause when I looked
at mine without the magnifying glass I couldn't see any doubling really.
I saw a little, but it wasn't until I took a picture with the magnifying glass
that I saw that. I'm a little confused is the 1958 real double die able to be seen
with the naked eye?

I feel you would see it better with magnification, but if you had great eyesight, the 001 probably could be seen with the naked eye. (only two known examples from this die)
Most often you find machine damage that looks like a doubled die, until you know what to look for. Note on this image. You can see where the device was reduced by machine damage during the strike.

The devices are not enlarged like you would expect from hub doubling. They die that struck this coin was normal, but die movement during the strike damaged these devices.

Wow that's interesting. I'm always for learning something new. A lot of times
I feel so stupid repeatedly asking questions. I even thought maybe I' ll do a different name so
you guys don't think "oh no here comes Sadie Angel again asking more questions lol, but
I'm really grateful because like tonight I was trying the different ways to get a good picture and
I was using this 1958 just trying to get a good picture of the date to compare with the ones
you all posted and while I was doing that, iwas seeing more on the coin that I didn't see before. My curiosity is
up and going. Without you guys I probably would never know. So I thank you for all
the help you've not only helped me with but when I read other people's post I'm amazed
with you guys and the help you help other people out with also. Thank you

I try not to give yes and no answers. I try to explain what what I see on a coin. I figure that is the way I would like to learn. Images doe help as they show what I'm trying to say with a lot less words. Always remember the dumbest is question is the one that is never asked. When we assume we may come up with the incorrect answer. So best to get it right the first time.
