I saw this dime yesterday, and thought it would look good in my 7070. The one I have in it, is not to bad. I just always thought I wanted a 1916 Mercury in that slot. I also see that upgrading one coin .. will make me want to upgrade the coins near it. Old New one going in.

Lovely example. Now your Barber spot wants some luster, too.

Quote: Lovely example. Now your Barber spot wants some luster, too. I agree .. was looking at that barber .. maybe a AU 1916 Barber would fit in there better. Then Liberty would be looking at each other .. 1916 .. coming and going. -------------------------------------------------- Quote: Very nice Merc. Is that FSB I'm looking at ? I am no Mercury dime expert ... But I am thinking it is. Have to say in hand this coin is very nice looking.

Love that frosty luster! Quote: I also see that upgrading one coin .. will make me want to upgrade the coins near it. That's how I ended up replacing 4 coins in my 7070 after it was supposed to be "done".

The goods and bad with coins like that. Now all the ones near it look old and dirty. You just have to upgrade all the rest.

Carl How right you are! If I had a set of Mercury dimes all in Fine condition I think I could do that for a few thousand bucks and the same for Buffalo nickels. That is not a bad ambition IMO. If I could get rare ones in better condition for a very good price I would sure do it. I got my 1928 Peace dollar in AU condition, but I would have settled for EF or even VF due to the price. Now I am thinking about the 1916-S LWH dollar that I have in AG condition. It is the worst coin I have in that set.
