What exactly is an "illegal" NBN again?

Shouldn't "Bank of North America" notes have Charter number 1, rather than 602?

The Lancaster proof is missing the facsimile signature Register of Treasury
Maybe Plymouth proof was mistakenly filed in the Pennsylvania box instead of the Massachusetts box?
The other two I am likely overlooking something obvious.

Quote: Shouldn't "Bank of North America" notes have Charter number 1, rather than 602? Charter numbers were assigned in the order that the banks applied for them. The First National Bank of Philadelphia applied for a charter in 1863. The Bank of North America while an older institution, applied for its charter in 1864. -MV

I had a chance to work on these today. Missed working on these for quite awhile. I got sick and my schedule has been all off since I recovered.
Anyway, I was surprised to see PA -- last time I worked on these we were out west in OK territory.

Man, these Pennsy boxes seem to go on forever! Boxes 23, 24, 25, and 26 are now posted.
One note -- as I was doing some reviewing last night I corrected quite a number of transcribing errors in Box 23. Which, of course, is why they require two sets of eyes on these. But if you are entering data, please look closely for text like "Bonds and/or other securities."

That's one thing that I feel confident that I get right. What I worry about is the series -- can't always find a series year.

If the series was overprinted later in the printing process, like 1875 and most 1882 series notes, you won't find it on these proofs -- just leave that blank.

Oooooh my: I was just informed that there are a total of 36 boxes of Pennsylvania proofs. The good news is that PA is the largest state in terms of nationals, so once we're over this hump it's downhill.

I just realized I never identified the errors that I posted earlier! Here they are: Lancaster Co National Bank PA ch. 683 - Meadowview you are correct; it's missing the signature of JW Lyons, Register of Treasury on A plate Old Colony National Bank of Plymouth PA ch. 996 - Additional "OF" included under arched lettering Farmers National Bank of York PA ch. 2228 - large plate cracks in $10 and $20 (the lower crack almost broke the plate apart). Citizen National Bank of Towanda PA ch. 2337 - missing ruled lines for President and Cashier signatures. The inspector caught this one! And here are a few more ... Fruit Growers National Bank of Smyrna DE ch. 2336 - Incorrect plate number (2339) used in lower left position of $10, plate C First National Bank of Finley ND ch. 7324 - charter number accidentally imprinted in wrong position on plate Iowa National Bank of Des Moines IA ch. 2307 - missing plate date (this is absent on all four notes)

Pennsylvania proofs continue! 32, 33 and 34 ready for transcription and review.
Greg's post on 5-31 means that there will only be two more boxes of PA proofs after these.
