After shipping and insurance (WHY does he require it?) I paid $18 and change.

My stepdaughter loves that Ben Stiller movie Night at the Museum, which featured a wax Sacagawea who comes to life. She's also intrigued about coins (probably because I am). So I figured I'd buy it for her.

Here it is:

If your stepdaughter love it, then it's money well spent.

Usarmy,

Why did you buy that 2006 proof sac dollar. For 21.86 and 3 bucks ships you could have bought in tire 2006 proof set. http://cgi.ebay.com/2006-10-COIN-PR...NG_W0QQitemZ120203291903QQihZ002QQcategoryZ139819QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

You get idea I need the 2001 Thur 2007 sac proof dollars for my book. I am thinking about buying the in tire 2000 Thur 2007 proof run on ebay. Remove the dollars from sets. Resell the nickels, quarters , halves , cents, dimes, Out the set to finish my book. Main reason they want 65 for an 2001 proof dollar. I just buy in tire 2001 proof set for like 70 to 85 bucks .

Ow well dont buy proof coins and only buy intire proofs sets intact. Sell the extra to get your money back on buying the proof coins for your sets. Its cheaper and you can maybe make profit besides losing money building sets.

I've heard that movie is pretty good. I'm not a DVD person and that is one of about 50 or more movies I have on DVD but not sure how to work that machine. I'm old and not willing to learn easily. so your stepdaughter is already into coins. Must run in the family, HUH?
Keep buying her coins so she stays interested in them. We need all the collectors in the future. Sure wish you had access to more coin shows. No postage, handling, insurances, etc.

USArmy,

Nice Sacagawea. I bought my daughter one too a couple years ago.

I have noticed many sellers state they require insurance but if you ask them to not insure the coin they will waive the fee. Obviously though they will not be responsible if it gets lost in the mail.

I understand why he didn't buy the entire proof set. In most instances, the proof set would be the way to go because you could sell off the other coins and make back your investment; however, he wanted to give her a coin which would make a nice presentation and seem special to her. If he wanted to give her a loose coin like she'd get from a parted-out proof set, he would have just bought a loose coin in the first place.
