Bring cash. Most dealers don't take checks or credit/debit cards. If you are looking to buy something, have a general idea of the price/value.

Know what you want and what is a fair price and the maximum you will pay.

I tend to do a lap of the floor and see who has what. I typically don't buy anything on this first pass unless it's something I've been looking for or a great price that won't stick around long.

With everything stated so far. Also, don't be afraid to haggle a little bit.

Not sure what you mean by MY upcoming coin show. Is this your coin show? Are you in a coin show as a seller or dealer? Or are you just going to one? All makes a difference.

Definitely take a lap first and browse the dealers for deals then go back to the few dealers that caught your eye.
Cash only.
Bring coins to trade if you have some you wouldn't mind getting rid of.

Quote: Bring cash. Most dealers don't take checks or credit/debit cards. While they prefer cash I have never had a dealers decline to take my check. Although in states that charge sales tax on coins if you use a check expect to be asked to pay the sales tax.

Print out a CDN Grey Sheet and bring it. Most dealers use this as a guideline and you'll know what they know. Expect to pay above CDN for exceptional pieces. Keep your hands in the open and any coins you're looking at in plain site. Do not keep reaching into your pockets and don't do ANYTHING that would cause the dealer to distrust you. The main thing most dealers are concerned with is theft because coins are small and easy to steal. Once you've earned their trust, good things will come. Over the years I've gained the trust of many dealers, it's to the point where I'm allowed to reach into their cases on my own and take out what I want. Most will also hand me big boxes of stuff with the freedom to look all I want. That's a BIG time saver! As other mentioned....BRING CASH....as much as you can afford. It never fails, I always find a lot more coins than I anticipated I might. Nothing sucks more than finding coins you really want but don't have the cash to buy. Cash is KING with dealers, you can usual work better deals when you have it and the dealer knows you have it. Be vigilant and watch out when you leave the venue. Thieves are everywhere including coin show parking lots. If you have a concealed carry permit, be sure to pack your gun. I would NEVER attend a show without my sidearm.

My only tip is to remember that most dealers are usually open to offers and they may sell a coin to you at a lower price. whenever I buy a coin I make sure that I pay less than the price on the 2X2.
Bad Thad, where would I be able to print out a copy of the CDN? Is there a website you can download it from?
