Hey guys! I've been kinda getting bored from (attempting to) organize, so I decided to go through my copper stash and look for errors. BUT, I really don't know many errors to look from. Do any of you guys have a list?
Thanks for the help!

Here is a short list:
RPM's on any D mint cent
1960 small date over large date DDO
1969 S DDO
1970 S small date (look for the high 7)
1971 S proof DDO
1982 Small date zinc. These are harder to find, I think. Other that or small date copper.

Also look for any prisoner cents, MAD's, Grease Filled Dies and die cracks. Have fun!

Get 10 bowls. Then sort the coins by putting the last digits all mints into a bowl (IE: 1911, 1921, 1931, 1941, 1951, 1961, 1971, 1981, and so on) When you get all 10 bowls sorted, then take one bowl and separate each decade. (IE: 1911. Go to coppercoins.com and look to see what DDO, DDR and RPMS there are for that year) Look at them to see if you have any varieties listed for that year) Go the that site and choose the Die search:
List-Of-Errors-LMC-1959-1982-Needed!
After clicking on that screen you can made the following choices Date, Mint Mark, Varieties. So choose 1911 P-D-S (all three) and DDO, DDR and RPM. Then hit enter. This will bring up the varieties for that year. You can open them to see what they look like. After going through that decade, then go on to 1921 from the same bowl. I usually take a piece of paper with lines to sort the decade/mint marks to make them easier to sort. (decade 1, 2, 3 ETC in rows horizontally. Then put the mint marks in three columns across. That helps you to sort the decade and mint marks to make searching one batch at a time) Save the sheets for the next decade of sorting. That is the way you might want to go to get this searching down. Eventually you will remember what to look for doubled dies and RPMs. Knowing what to look for is half the battle at first. When you get it down, then you can do this without sorting.

Research what an error is and research what a variety is.

An error occurs when there is a problem with the making of the coin, not in the die itself. There are three different types of errors, planchet errors, die errors, and mint striking errors. Some examples are: Strike Doubling, laminations, struck through, off center, clipped planchets, capped dies, Grease Filled Dies, die adjustment strikes, and die clashes.

Varieties are mistakes in the die and many coins get minted that are exactly the same. There are literally hundreds of Lincoln Cent varieties. Some examples of different types varieties are: doubled dies and re-punched mint marks.

Many collectors today don't understand the difference between the two and will advertise a doubled die as an error coin and so on.
