I was wondering what everyone thinks of the 2008 Bald Eagle Commemorative. The Commemorative Half dollar, Silver Dollar, and Five Dollar Gold piece will be issued on January 15.

Does anyone plan on purchasing one or all of these coins?

And what do you think of the designs?

I'm actually quite disappointed in the designs. The $5 coin doesn't even really look like a bald eagle that much. The silver eagle is a generic eagle in flight design used thousands of times in artwork and various other places. As far as the 3rd one...it doesn't really make much sense without knowing the designers inspiration for them.

I like the design of the half dollar, however I'm disappointed in the composition. I was hoping it would be silver.

They are available tommorow at 12:00. The silver dollar proof is $39.95 and the UNC is $35.95. I believe the clad half dollar is $14.95. I don't remember what the $5 gold commemorative is.

I like them and will buy a proof silver dollar.

I'm not having any problem getting the phone to answer, but the recording keeps telling me that they can't take orders! I'm not too much into modern commemoratives but was going to pick up the 1/2 in proof & unc.

I can't believe the mint waited till a release day to change service providers. The mint site won't be up for a couple of days ... says the press release and I can't get through on the phone.

I want to buy the 3 coin set but at this rate I don't think I'll be able to with a limit of 25,000
