I just completed my 20th century type set. I used proofs on all the affordable types. Just curious if anyone else did that. I myself think it looks awesome.

That is awesome! I have not considered that; don't even own that many proofs. LOL

That is a really really nice looking set!

no,basically the right side of the board, eisenhowers, sacagawea, anthony, the JFK's besides the 64, the Washington quarters besides the silver one, both Roosevelt dimes, Jefferson clad and the lincoln memorial are the proofs.

Whew, with them being out of focus and shiny and your above statement I thought you may have found some "cheap" ones that circulated but you did say affordable ones. I like it and yes, I use proofs in my type set and they look great too

An all proof set sure would look sweet but that calls for deeper pockets than I have
but I do have a couple of proofs in my type set as well as a matte proof (97 P Five cent) but I have all 5 mint marks so I couldn't get all proofs

lol my pockets aren't that deep either Yotie. I'll probably get proofs for Franklin, Kennedy 64, and Washington Silver quarter and call it a day.

Nice looking set! I have some proofs in my 7070 - don't see any issue with it.

It's a type set.
By definition you can make it anything you want.
Congrats on its completion.

There were no proof Standing Liberty quarters so a complete proof 20th century type set is not possible. The 1921 & 1922 matte proof Peace dollars are extremely rare but, the rest of the coins for this type set can be done in proof if one saves their dimes and quarters.

I have assembled a couple of 20th century type sets and am working on a third which includes the gold and I personally do not like mixing uncirculated with proof coins. The contrast in the finishes is too distracting for me.

I have a couple proofs in my 20th/21st Century type set (which is organized in 2x2's in binder pages. My Franklin half (1961) and Prez $ (James Polk) are proofs, just off the top of my head. I may throw the only proof SBA that I have into the mix as well, since I've lost interest in adding the rest of the proofs to my SBA set. Additionally, the Bicentennial quarter in this set is the 40% silver one (since the Half and Dollar are with those respective sets, and I didn't have any other use for it).

I've used proofs whenever possible for my 7070 album, at least for the newer coins. I do have a number of older proofs, but they are all slabbed and too valuable to stick in an album (in my opinion).
