What would be a good price to purchase a roll of mint state 1990s Silver Eaqles? Should I expect to get it above, at, or below spot silver price if I'm buying from private seller? What if it is a dealer?

1996 would be a good choice. That is the 10 year anniversary of ASE, but they may already have a higher premium.

Okay, so 94 and 96 are good. I was on JMBullion.com and each year has a different price. 91s are 24 a coin, 90 is 26. Whereas, 2014 is 19 and the market price of silver is 15. Then again, I hear of people pawning their silver for less than market.

If you pawn your silver they will give you half +/- of spot. Yes silver eagles are $20 +/- at best if you wanted to buy any old generic ones unless you buy bulk by the tube then maybe $18-19 per

From a dealer you won't get silver below spot price pretty much regardless of what you are buying. If a private party is offering them for sale, and has any idea what they area, I would think spot would be good and not expect to do any better. If you are putting in add in the paper or on-line, you might get them for less than spot, particularly if you are willing to pay slightly more than local dealers.

This topic would probably get more responses in the bullion forum.

A good price for bullion Silver Eagles from pretty much any year is 3-5 dollars over spot. Having said that there are some years that do go for slightly higher if you can find the right buyer. Some one looking to complete a set, for example, might be willing to pay more for harder to get dates but you're going to have to search for and wait to find this buyer and they doubtfully will want to buy more than ne or two coins to fill their set. I know that 1996 can go for a higher premium to the right buyer due to low mintage numbers. but if I go to sell them to a bullion dealer or any dealer for that matter I doubt I will get any more than any other year.

Cascade: Many pawn shops will not allow you to pawn bullion but they will buy it outright.

I found the listings in the Red Book and have noticed that the 96 is considerably more. Great info, thanks guys. I know where someone pawned some nice mint silver coins and when I went to that shop to see if they had any coins for sale they said No...
