I just have to ask. I've seen some recent posts about the most beautiful coin and anyone who has collected coins for a while has been subjected to the "most beautiful coin" opinion in all sorts of publications. Of circulated, modern US coins the Ike dollar is the ugliest with the Franklin half a close second.

I'm putting my money down on the Madison Dollar. James Madison looks more like a wet dog, than anything else.

I agree with the presidentials. I never liked them at all. Kind of blah...

Otherwise I'd say older Jefferson nickels never caught my eye.

I would have to agree with the presidential coins as well; not so much the look, but the fact that they remind me of arcade tokens when I handle them.

I actually like the Jefferson nickels from 2005. I like the Ocean and I really like the buffalo on the back. I also think the front of that nickel is the best front of any of the nickels

I like the new ones, just not the older. Nothing that catches my eye with the old ones.

Ugliest coin?

Anybody seen the 2008 dollar designs?

Does everyone know who Larry Fine is?

Without a doubt, the ugliest coin to me right now is the one shown in the thread linked below...not only is it physically ugly, but it's a TEASE...made me think I might have stumbled onto a key date

In the thread about the most beautiful coin I chose the Flowing Hair Half. In this thread for the ugliest coin I have to say it is the Flowing Hair Half I'll actually be able to afford :)

Usually it's the coin you're showing a coin dealer to sell.

tokens......some mexican coins........ some foreign coins.....but I couldn't say there is an American coin that is "ugly"...... some I definately like more than others though. They're all treasures to me.
There's absolutely nothing "attractive" about the Lincoln Penny or the Wheat for that matter......... but I like em' and collect em' !

puman, your ugliest are two of my favourites, so if you come across some you don't want, you can just give them to me for proper disposal!

As for the ugliest, I have to agree that most of the Presidential dollars are lacking in charm. Since I mostly collect moderns, I will agree to disagree on the slanderous comments made towards Ike, Jefferson, and Franklin!

BTW, this is my 50th post. Whether this or the previous 49 are "quality posts" or not is debatable, but now I can stop avoiding the buy/sell/trade forums like I do the local Mercedes dealership!
