Offered it but it is a bit of a distance and wanted to see if this looks genuine from pictures. Nothing is 100% until I get it in hand but thought let the community here chime in. Appreciated Edited by hoosiergator 07/21/2015 9:48 pm

For it's condition, it doesn't have any luster. Something just doesn't look right.

Strike one it's raw. Strike two - with the amount of detail and the lack of cartwheel lustre I would assume it's a chinese counterfeit unless someone can prove otherwise. Better photos may change my opinion.

There are some things that I would be concerned with as the rim and color of the coin do not look natural. It almost looks like there are 8 tail feathers and the A is touching the wing like a 1878 reverse. If you are being offered this coin for $300 run do walk away if this coin is genuine without problems it is a $1000 + coin.

MM looks too big to me, maybe I'm just seeing things though, I think it's fake...

Looks hidden in the holder. Pass for now.

I zoomed in the picture. It is in a plastic case but the best pictures are the ones within this plastic case. The lack of luster concerns me and the 'flatness' of the Obverse but I am looking for that 'smoking gun' where the details are not right. The "MM" looked all right to ME but that is the type of stuff I am looking for because more eyes are better.

Looks to be from a Chinese mint. There's likely a good reason that the seller hasn't quickly peddled this key date in his own area.

There is insufficient detail in these images for any knowledgeable collector to offer anything but a wild guess, and believe no one who has a firm opinion.

I would not purchase this coin because of the factors mentioned above.

I can't say for sure with those photos. The condition makes it seem too good to be true.

I can't see enough to make a clear call one way or the other. If you're going to take the drive, take along a magnet and a scale. If the seller won't allow the coin to be taken out of its holder to be properly evaluated, or if after your examination you have even the slightest nagging doubt, just drive home with your money still in your pocket.
