I think I have a error of some sort. I have a 1988 dime (Right) that appears to have a odd "double rim" at the top. I put another dime next to it for comparison

looks cool. so this is in-fact a error? if so I would like to know how common it is and how much it could be worth. I have just began coin collecting a month to a month and a half ago so errors are really exciting to me

Even if you are unable to enhance the picture, if you could crop it down to just the two coins it would make it much easier to see.

Condition matters for the value of error coins.

The prices for error coins are all over the place.

A mint state 1988 dime is worth about 30 cents. Yours will be worth more because of the error. I could see it selling for $4 or as much as $30. But it all depends upon having a customer willing to buy it.

It's the kind of coin that I would be happy to FIND but I doubt that I would ever buy.

Take a look at ebay for similar types of error coins, then check the SOLD prices.

Anyway, nice find. If it's your first error coin find -- keep it for yourself.

Buddy, this is quite common on a lot of these dimes, not worth anymore than face.

I hate to say it but yes that's right. You could list it on ebay for 2 week's at .99 cents & not sell it.Come back 2 weeks later & relist it for a day & you could possibly get 5 or 10 bucks. It is a miner anomaly in my book so I would not be a buyer myself.

Like I said, fun to find -- hard to place a value on it. I've seen less impressive errors sell for $30 -- but I don't think you can count on it.

mongoz -- if this were my coin, I would put it in a flip or 2X2 with a note -- finning, error/not rare, small premium.

I do this in case somebody has to sell off my collection someday after I'm gone. I don't want them thinking all my coins have a high premium value. It would be a waste of time for them to try and sell a coin with a minor error.
And since prices/values change all the time, I don't put a dollar amount on every single coin.

But your coin is, in my opinion, a keeper. You found it! Yea! and you have an example of finning -- so enjoy!
