I found this wheatie while putting together some sets for me and my boys and it didn't sound right. Now, I know wheaties are supposed to be roughly 3.1 grams except for the steelies and most1982 to present. This one came in at 2.57-2.59 grams after numerous weighing attempts, zeroing, and weighing other 1936 P wheaties and other years all of which came in at roughly 3.1 grams. I can't seem to find anything about it. Did I find a fortune?
Since you have other wheaties, line them up -- like you were going to make a roll, and see if there is any difference. You might find a thin spot on the edge or the entire coin might be thin.
But like John1 wrote: Don't quit your day job. If it is an error, it isn't a valuable one.
I agree, acid dipped coin. It reduces the overall shape of the coin evenly. Thickness and width. So it could be a bit smaller around compared with another coin. The rim are usually shows the reduction the most.
If the coin is smaller than a cent, then it might be interesting. But there are a lot of plated/painted/mercury added to coins out there. But I will enjoy images.
