Since Buddy Ebsen was a huge coin collector and lived before TPG was really a thing I was wondering if anyone, through old auction catalogues or otherwise, can lay claim to owning a coin that used to belong to Jed Clampett?
I have a hardbound copy of his catalog by Superior Galleries. A very well done auction, and the catalog alone is one of their more pricey ones available. His collection sold May 31 through June 2, 1987 and realized over $10 million dollars. The softbound catalog sells for around $40.00 the hardbound is now $125-200 when found.
Unfortunately I don't have a coin from the sale.

Here is an old article from the Chicago Tribune from May 31, 1987 talking about him and his collection going up for auction. (Great bits of wisdom for the novice numismatic).
Here is an old episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies" dealing with Jed needing to find a hobby.

At 10:04 they discusses the possibilities of stamp and coin collecting.

I wont give it all away but if you don't want to watch the whole thing (which you should) just watch that part and when they are done their scene skip to 18:08.
I will dig up my catalog and report back later, for now though, the video is showing me a 404 error not found, can you provide a direct link perhaps, I'd love to see it.

I think the problem was Westcoin that the episode was part of the season 3 playlist and it was set on auto play. I went to the YouTube user called "The Beverly Hillbillies" and selected season 3 episode 29 independently. Hopefully this will work.

Now to keep this somewhat related to numismatics here is a brief article from the Ocala Star Banner about how he (Ebsen) auctioned off an 1802 Half Dime for $23,500.
