With Gold & Silver being so low, is it the right time to get that Gold or Silver coin you've always wanted?

I don't think silver prices would really prevent most people from getting a particular silver coin they wanted since it doesn't take much before the numismatic value outstrips the melt value.

Gold, now that's a different story. I'd love to finish the gold page in my Dansco type set and lower gold prices would help a lot. What doesn't help is 11 years to go on the mortgage, a car payment with 4 more years to go and a kid starting college in the fall. So - gold page is not gonna happen for awhile at least.

with 7070. Unless you are talking about bullion coins, such as the American Eagle program, silver prices really don't make too much of a difference for folks buying "collector" coins. If I'm buying a Barber dime, or any such type coins, and paying $200 for that dime, the value of silver makes no difference to me at all.

Gold, however, as 7070 mentioned, is a different story. The prices of collector gold coins, with the exception of rarer issues or high grades, do move in step with gold going up and down.

The price of a common date Half Eagle in AU 50 - MS 61 is most certainly going to be affected, as an example.

Ditto to Kenkat.
Silver melt value is fraction of the Numismatic value for certain coins.Example 1818 Bavarian constitutional thaler is in my list of wanted coins. Its melt value now is $12 but the numismatic value has not changed from around $300.

Gold seems super high to me. Now silver is relatively low enough for me to collect junk halves so I guess.

Yes, I think about the only coins meaningfully affected by bullion prices would be generic gold pieces, so if that's your poison, just decide which way you think prices are headed!
