I have been left a coin George1 two pence 1717. I know very little about coins, I cleaned it with vinegar and the stamp and coin buyer said I had halved its value, what can I do, cheers pocket money

A silver 2 pence would not really be affected by vinegar in the first place. My bet is that you polished it which is probably what caused any visible damage.
Also, a 1717 2 pence is not worth very much money, even in higher grades. I doubt you "ruined" the value of the coin, as the value was negligible in the first place.
