Hi, I'm from the west coast and am headed to Omaha for a meeting in a couple weeks. I'm considering buying a box of some kind of coin, most likely half dollars because I need several Philadelphia mint NIFCs, and all the NIFCs 2010 and newer, as well as several of the older (40% and 90% silver) JFKs to complete a set I'm working on.
Anyone willing to share info? You can email me if you prefer.
Thanks in advance, and happy hunting all!

Hello! I am from the Omaha area, what do you need info on? Are you wondering how easy it is find NIFC halfs? I found one searching through about $20 in halfs. I've only searched like $80 in halfs so far...

I was in Omaha, NE for a few months several years ago... if you have the time, I would suggest visiting the Durham Western Heritage Museum. The Byron Reed collection is on display there, some absolutely amazing coins!

I travel to Omaha for work sometimes and based on my experience, I think you are more likely to get D's than P's there. That's just based mostly on looking at change so maybe a box would be different.

Nope, I get mostly D's here... You wont find a P coin that's newer than 2013 here.

Interesting. My mom and siblings live in Glenwood, IA, just south of Council Bluffs. Wish I had known we had another collector nearby! Although while living there I was basically just into State Quarters and wheat cents it has been a couple years.

Gee whiz, maybe it isn't worth the effort to fit in any CRH-ing. Any good coin stores in the downtown area? I'll be near the federal building...

I live across the river in Council Bluffs. I'm not a big roll hunter, my bank only allows me to get 5 rolls at a time. I have found some 40% and 90% silver Kennedy's, and some NIFC. No proofs or older silver however.

ABC Coins and Collectables is a pretty good coin store! DSS Coin & Bullion is pretty good, the largest dealer in Omaha I belive, but the first and best location is in a rough neighborhood.
Also, if you CRH wheats you can usually get 20+ per box, if you do that...

Thanks to all who replied! I enjoy "sampling" the CRHing potential of different areas of the country. Childofwheat, I'm not a cent hunter, so I've no idea how many wheats a box of cents from my area would produce, but if you are willing to pickup the box from me in downtown Omaha, I'd be happy to bring you one. Just let me know so I can try and get a box before I leave town tomorrow.

Quote: You wont find a P coin that's newer than 2013 here. Exact opposite in NE Ohio. You'll find P mints all the time, D mints not so much. I still havent found some UNC D mints from the past several years. I have some buddies out west who send them to me from time to time.

Whenever I travel, I always try to do a little CRH. My goal is to find at least one silver coin from each state. So far 45 out of 51. NE is crossed off the list.
