Ok I have been a moderator for a year now (God has it been that long already?) and would like to run a contest where the prize will be this This is going to be a contest within a contest actually, the above is the main prize and the other part of the contest is where all of you give me helpful hints on what to make the contest consist of like price of silver at close of a certain date or how many coins I have in my safe deposit box, you know something coin related and I will pick one of those suggestions and the winner that suggested it will win this I will open this to all forum members since its all of you that make this forum a pleasure to moderate So Enjoy!

How about the price of silver and gold combined when you reach five thousand posts.

Hi, How about a kind of contest where you would have multiple coins, but we would only be able to see a certain part of the coins. We would then have to identify (country, denomination, date, etc.) as many coin as possible. The person with the most coins identified would win! You could also give us hints if you want.

I would suggest a multi-part contest, so that those with less knowledge in certain areas won't feel as if they are left out. Make it in 4 or 5 completely different areas, one on grading, one on world coin recognition, etc., when will you hit 5000 posts, how many coins you ave in your safe, etc.(these are just examples). Whoever has the highest score at the end then wins. Some based on skills, others on pure dumb luck. Makes for a more even playing field. Or you could just call me the winner, and spare everyone else the agony of defeat.

How about pic of a group of different coins with the last 2 or all 4 numbers are covered and we would have to guess what year each coin is?

You should change your avatar to a foreign coin and see who can guess the country that you are going to use oops....already been done OK fine something unique and time consuming that I would have no patience running it myself. I'm a fan of the ridiculously huge jar of coins that we have to guess how many coins, how much face value, weight, etc. thanks for an awesome precontest contest

A few suggestions from down under.
What date is the oldest coin in your collection. What denomination is the oldest coin in your collection. What is the most valuable coin in your collection & how much is it worth.

Heres a couple:
How much you spent on coins last month, or any month of your choice. How much you sold, profit last month or any. How much silver or gold will be on your birthday or a family members b-day. (not sure when that is, might be too far out) Identify some coins only by the thickness or rim etc..kind of odd but fun. Total amount of money in your wife's, gf's purse right now, in coins of course.

Haha, something different from me... Bryan, you could tell us the history of the coin, without pictures, could be a world coin to make it harder, maybe from something in your collection... After telling the history of it, without revealing too much information about the coin, then we can start trying to find out what the coin is... To make it longer, you can give hints like '1947', 'silver', 'panda' etc... Hope you like my suggestion..

How about submitting a limerick with a coin-related theme?
Writing contests are subjective, but they do it all the time in forums. You be the judge or moderators be the judges or let forum members vote (can't vote for your own). Let us know if it can be "dirty" hahaha!
If you want members to vote, the entries should be PM'd to you and you display them without names so the voting can be as unbiased as possible (common practice in art, recipe, contests).

Wow, all of these suggestions are great!
-We could have a "design a coin" contest with Coin Community somewhere on the coin. Who knows, it could be a emblem for the site!
This may be too long but the prizes would be worth it. 1st Phase: You could have a contest where on the first week, everyone can guess how much pocket change you have every night with the deadline at 12am. Do this everyday for one week, the closest to your amount wins. There should be 7 winners. Only these winners survive, the rest are eliminated. 2nd Phase: For the next 5 days. the winners from the first round again have to guess how much pocket change you have in your pocket. The person furtherest away from the correct total is eliminated each day. This will leave 2 people. 3rd Phase: This is the final round. The Championship! They could fight for it..nah just kidding. Make up a 5 or 10 question test about coins, have them PM it to you. The most correct answers win!

Maybe something simple, like you post a picture of a Proof set and we have to guess the C.O.A. number. Steve

How about a group vote contest? To enter, every participant must create a new and original Avatar, then simply post a reply to your contest. After the cutoff date to enter, Each participant must send a PM email to you to vote on their favorite Avatar in the contest. (Of course we can not vote for ourselves)
Most votes win...
