This 1879 CC Morgan sold today on ebay for $375. I could not believe the price it sold for as it looks like a toy from a Cracker Jack Box. See link below.

Wow. Cool. $375 for a meaningless lump of metal.

Some collectors (myself included) sometimes bid on this fake junk that is not only obviously fake junk but has the seller giving every indication that they REALLY REALLY don't know it's fake junk (said with tongue firmly in cheek).

They pay the ebay fees regardless and I just report and have it pulled without needing to pay. Sellers can't leave bad feedback so it doesn't take too many of those before they get tired of paying the ebay fees (which they still have to pay) with a loss rather than a thieving profit.

Great post dave! Everyone in the office gave me a funny look when I laughed out loud. And that kids, is why you shouldn't browse the forums while at work!

Wow it's shinier than any proof. From the loss of detail it looks like it was put in the chrome bath for a while with the grilles and bumpers. Liberty posing as the Chrome Nun.

I'm hoping the winning bidder is someone with no intention of actually paying for an obvious fake.

You are correct the word copy is over the arrows. The seller had to work at the photos to make the word copy not stand out.

If the word copy is on the coin, where does this fall under the ebay rules? The seller does not offer refunds. Whoever purchased this coin is not going to be happy.
