At this point, how could dipping it hurt it?

How much squash could a Sasquatch squash if a Sasquatch would squash squash?

Dipping removes part of the surface of the coin. Removing the surface is basically removing the shiny surface of the coin. while it may look nice at first, the coin becomes dull in time. So long term collecting of your coin is reduced by a few grades. Removes desirability of your coin in seconds.

It was not on my plans to remove anything from the coin. It it's what it it's. Thanks coop for reassuring it.

A friend of mine both two boxes with 10 mint sets each from the mint in 1966 and never open the boxes until I did a few months back and I just got to them to check for DDO's. .

Back in the 70s, when dealers had good stocks of SMS from 1965 to 1967, you could cherrypick frosted Kennedys in some of the sets. I picked 3 nice ones for my set. The 1965 was the toughest one to find I have scanned pictures of the 3. They are much nicer in hand than pictured in the scans. I am sure some could probably be found today. If you look hard enough you may find the other dates to add to your nice 1966.

Next time you scan try this:
1. Set your settings for the scanner to the largest image as you can get.
2. Place a piece of dark material over the coins on the top to block out the white background of the lid on the scanner.
3. Make sure to remove the coins from the plastic holders/2V2's/flips. (reflection is not your friend)

Try this and you will enjoy your images a lot more.
Here is one I scanned that way:

I tried this for a time and figured out a better way to take images of larger coins.
