I cant tell what the date on this dime is, also what happened to the rim and reverse?

Well, a cursory glance says it's either 1920, 1928 or 1929. Comparing to other dates could probably give a conclusive answer. We can safely say there is no mint mark (so a P).

However, all those dates are very common and I'm not even sure that coin rates Fair. Only good for bullion, in any case. And if you need a filler, you should be able to get any of of those three in G4 shape for $1 at any coin show or shop.

I'm going with 1920. The left side of the 0 goes too far down compared to the first 9.

Just normal wear. Probably been out there a long time. The V Nickels/standing Liberty quarters/buffalo Nickels seem to wear the date off quickly. But I still enjoy them when I get one of either all three.
