Nice batch! And nice moose. @Buddy yes, we're up north, but we're not that far up north, and we're not on a high altitude. I assume it will be November before the snow sticks to the ground. So there should be at least 5 more good Sundays to come, probably more.

Hoooo boy. Oh boy. We struck gold. GOLD! 5 Kronor, Sweden 1886 Just when I thought I was done without finding anything, I found a small but lonely looking batch of coins lying about on a stand, I had a look and bought it for the seller's stated price, 10 kr. I never expected to strike gold on the market. This was the whole batch: 5 Rappen, Switzerland 1982 & 1985 1 Franc, France 1947 10 Gröschen, Austria 1979 50 Gröschen, Austria 1979 1 Schilling, Austria 1980 1/4 Dollar, USA 2000 2 Kronor, Sweden 1969 & 1970 5 Kronor, Sweden 1886 50 Lepta, Greece 1962 1 Drachmi, Greece 1967 & 1971 (x3) 2 Drachmai, Greece 1971 (2x) 10 Drachmai, Greece 1959 How that's for another good 5 Sundays? The moose I bought last week looks pretty dull but I had a hard time photographing last week's images. That coin is quite shiny, as to why I bought it. For some reason I didn't have a pretty one. Colder temperatures have reached Stockholm but the snow I hope isn't coming soon. Time will tell. Oh my.

You seriously got that gold one and the rest of the batch for 10 SEK? I paid 800 for the gold one alone... Anyway, nice batch, but I agree that the weather wasn't optimal and a it chilly so better luck next time? (seriously, have the gold coin checked for authenticity. It looks good from here, but weigh it and measure it).

Wow. But, yeah, you should check the 5kr for authenticity -- just to be on the safe side.

Oh, it's real alright. My household scale (still don't have anything better) says 2 grams but went up to 3 for a second. It feels very heavy in hand. Measurements turn out exact and the ring tone is very low and clear (measured VERY carefully!). It is very lustrous and it looks much better in hand than in the pictures. I can't stop thinking I love gooold! Quote: but I agree that the weather wasn't optimal and a it chilly so better luck next time? Are you perchance implying you snook into the country and visited the market? If so, competition time

2 Kronor, Sweden 1969 & 1970 looks like Ronald Reagan sort of ... Amazing and nice gold coin you found in the lot. I do enjoy this thread a lot. Thanks for keeping it going.

Quote: Are you perchance implying you snook into the country and visited the market? Trust me, if I had, you wouldn't have struck gold... No, it was the same kind of weather here. That's it...

Quote: 2 Kronor, Sweden 1969 & 1970 looks like Ronald Reagan sort of ... His name is Gustaf VI Adolf. He was King of Sweden from 1950 to 1973, when his grandson and the current king took over.

Hi X2an,
I've managed to buy a few silver coins from various market stalls and carboots around the UK, but I would love to find a gold coin. Hope your luck continues and happy hunting.

No gold today, but a small silver will do 10 Cents, Hong Kong 1894 Last week got crazy with the gold, but that is a one-in-a-thousand chance to happen. Today's weather has really been the definition of Autumn - cold, grey and rainy. Mostly a slight drizzle during market hours, but otherwise it's just been rainy. The weather set the activity of the market to a minimum - when I got there only a few sellers dared to set up. I took a look around and didn't find anything of interest. After doing some errands in city I later on went back, slightly frustrated I didn't find anything and hoping I would. Sure indeed, one stand has this coin lying about and I offered and got it for 10 kr. A fair buy This is my first Hong Kong silver aswell. Doesn't look too good with the black spots but I'll take it. It wasn't until afterwards I remembered that old + silvery + asia could mean counterfeit, but it's not magnetic and has a clear silver ring tone to it. Details do not look too off. So I say it's a pass Quote: 2 Kronor, Sweden 1969 & 1970 looks like Ronald Reagan sort of ... I've always thought that portrait is very bad and does not look like the person it's portraying. This image of an earlier Sunday shows notes with much better portraits of this king.

I have heard of very few people getting gold in a "junk" box. Congratulations, and keep searching.
If you give it just a glance, it looks vaguely like the swiss 5 rappen.
