Am I the only one that thinks the obverse looks cleaned? I'm not familiar with these.

VF20 cleaned? Maybe a long time ago, but I don't think a TPG would make a details call on one like this under EF45. Looks pretty nice other than the uneven color from obverse and reverse.

What I continue to learn about grading coins, be it TPG graded or raw, are the finite differences between a "cleaned" coin and truly circulated coin that just had lots of thumbs rubbing it to keep the details of the reliefs pretty <for lack of a better word). This 1850 has not been subject to a "cleaning", it may have very well have been water and rag wiped in 1893 by someone but other than that, the brightness of the devices are characteristic of thumb rubbings and not a cleaning as some might define it. Here is a picture of my coin with diffused lighting which might lend a different look and feel to what is actually happening with the surfaces: and for those that guessed VF30, well done. CAC also liked it as a choice coin for the grade and issue.

OK, I like the second set of pics for a better idea on the surfaces. Nice one!
