Obviously the seller has zero feedback and it's a brand new ebay account. I'm looking to purchase an 1885 and saw this listing, he is only selling 4 items as of this post and they are all rarer items...

This 1885 nickel, a 1916-D merc, a 1919-D quarter and some game that is apparently rare because it's about to sell for $350...

I would say it looks like the 5 is a little off and the 8 seems to have some mark (tooled maybe) right at the top. That and his only auctions involve rare coins.

I'd stay away from it honestly zero feedback is a major red flag. The 1885 looks ok at first glance but the 5 doesn't look great at second glance zoomed in. His 19d slq doesn't look right either. My opinion wait for others to chime in.

Even in a best case scenario there's always going to be a risk with a listing like this. imo it looks real, but do your own research. The 1916 D he has is also real, albeit in a basement slab. Not sure about the 1919 quarter.
Rest in Peace

I could be wrong but I'm going to give this seller a brake. he probably has no feedbacks because he hasn't sold anything yet due to being new on e-bay.
he has a 14 day money back hassle free return. and lastly his 3 coins look good to me with one exception; I'm not sure about the D mm on the SLQ.
Rest in Peace

with TBop. I don't see any outstanding problems and full return is offered. We all had to start at 0.

Granted that zero and low feedback can be problematic, but every eBayer had zero feedback at one time.

As long as you exercise due diligence and follow the rules as a Buyer you should be protected from loss.

If you see what you like then buy it. If it's not what was advertised then return it.

The coin looks genuine to me, seller is in the USA and just joined ebay Aug 2. Paypal should protect you but you'll have to go with your gut feel on this one.

I'd back away from this as far as possible until you can guarantee there is only one listing on ebay (this one) with that specific coin image posted. I've seen people steal images before.

Put me in the real camp.

Grade? G6 to VG8.

Appears to have several obverse die breaks, most notably through the 12 & 13 stars and the first star out to the rim.

Reverse die clash, possibly, at center.

If the coin and price are right for you, be aware that Paypal will be holding his money for three weeks and you'll have plenty of time to file a dispute.

If, of course, he actually has the coin to sell.

Thanks guys, not being being very versed on fakes and with how well they make fakes anymore I was just a little nervous because of the reasons I stated.

If the price goes right I may try to buy this one up, there's a few others on ebay right now for a decent price but this one seems to be the best quality currently. I'm not looking for an AU piece or anything, G's are fine with me right now I just need it to fill one of the few holes left in my Liberty V collection.

I agree with that others, that are saying ...

If you like the coin and price is good with you,
then buy it.

In this case I fell ebay and PayPal are set up so
you can get your money back if something is wrong.

I like this coin, and for right now the price is good.

If I was buying it, I would check past ebay sales to see
what others have paid for similar coins.
