This one is probably way too easy for the CCF graders, but I'll throw it out there, anyway, for your grade opinion. It has one minor notable feature: the reverse has about 5-10 degrees of rotation.

(No VAM attempted, 1921-D is another date that's nearly impossible to VAM without hours of study unless it's glaringly obvious like IN GO_ or WE _RUST reverses.)

I would grade the coin MS 63. The coin looks like it has been dipped as there are white rings around the M and Star on obverse, but the white spots could have been done at the mint as many of the 21 series have the white spots.

I suspect it's just lighting. Coin is not in a details holder.

I could see this at 64 possibly and it appears to be an EDS VAM1R http://www.vamworld.com/1921-D+VAM-1R

edit to add - It may be a VAM-1 without the die break over the T in STATES.

Good catch, Dave. The reverse clash certainly looks the part. You're not lying about EDS, though, this must have been very early as almost none of the other die cracks seem to have developed.

After reading the link to a discussion this may technically be a VAM-1. (see my edit above as well)

The 1921's have always been among the hardest to accurately attribute a VAM to, for me. They seem to have way more varieties than most dates, and people find new combinations of VAMs and die states all the time (even VW's die crack guide is probably only partially complete at best.)

*edit
why am I so far off from everyone else? are these reverses espically known for weak strikes? or is this a slider? I see some rub on the reverse on the breast and legs..

Yes, in fact, they are, particularly at the center.
