*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***I noticed that on the coloured commemorative there is generally three different varieties of the quarters. And these are what they look like. They are called the DirtDetector Variety after my official discovering and making an official claim. The three types are "Defined", "Faded", "Plain". 1) Defined 2) Faded 3) Plain Consider this post as a copyright and first official recognition in the coin community.

But in all seriousness, you are almost a month too late, a sharp-eyed collector from Sherbrooke, Quebec noticed this variation and posted about it on August 22nd. http://numicanada.com/forum/viewtop...f=25&t=25819

That's in french. That doesn't count. This is coin community. And I claim this Variety. As I put more detail into the naming of the Varieties.

I'm confused as to what just happened here...
In other news, I'm officially claiming the discovery of 1947 Canadian coins with dots and maple leaves.
Does this count too? As I think it should, based upon logic and reasoning.

I personally don't call these varieties as its just the way the coloring is applied. To me varieties have to have something to do with the strike or die.

Quote: That's in french. That doesn't count. Offensive much? Je revendique la decouverte de chaque pièce de variete dans l'histoire numismatique canadien comme mon propre , en particulier ceux que je ne l'ai jamais entendu parler de ! Wait, it did not count cause it was in french? Well, I guess I will have to do it in english ... i claim the discovery of EVERY coin variety in canadian numismatic history as my own, especially the ones I have never even heard of! Better? Quote: And I claim this Variety. As I put more detail into the naming of the Varieties. That is like me pulling the money out of your wallet, arranging it from largest to smallest denomination and than saying its my money cause I organized it. Just because you gave them names does not mean you discovered them. As far as the variety it self. It is neat at best, and I doubt it will be recognised by many. it is kind of like having a bill with a slightly different tint(which I have noted to be pretty common and not note worthy). Congrats for keeping an eye out and noticing something out of the norm.
Feel free to call me Will.

To each his own. That's like saying that I've got a new shirt every time that I wash it and it fades a little more. Coloring has nothing to do with the word "variety"

Interesting to see colour variants, but I struggle to call this a variety. It may have to do with the amount of colour applied to the coin, as supposed to intentionally created varieties. However, I do not understand this process enough to be sure. As for the variety claim, enough has been said about the legitimacy.
