They actually circulated quite a bit, and a couple of them has been cleaned quite extensively.

Yes, too many cleaning marks for my taste. I do love Canada's earlier designs (voyageur, centennial, etc.).

that 1967 dollar was the first coin I got as a kid and still have it, got it from the royal bank right here in my little home town, my mom put it away got it back a few years ago after she passed away. and my sister went into her safety deposit box. forgot all about it, it was in a envelope with my name on it. what a surprise it was

Burg, that's a cool story. For me at least, it's a real joy to find something that I didn't know was mine or reminds me of my childhood. What got me back into coin collecting after about many, many years was finding a piece of paper tucked away in my dad's coin collection that I didn't recall was ever saved, after the collection was passed to me but sat idle for a few decades. I was probably about 11 years old at the time - helping him inventory his silver dollar collection. It said "we got......." in careful but very childish handwriting. I think he asked me to write what we got from a coin store, so I did what was asked and literally wrote what "we got"!

I love the old canadian dollar! its large and great design on the coin (IMO) is far superior than the current dollar coin. Anyone try spending one of these recently? lol

You will have trouble spending a nickel dollar, almost no stores accept them, most coin shops don't want them.

I love the Voyageur dollars, but man that goose dollar is a stunningly beautiful and graceful design. Easily one of my favorites.

Anyone try spending one of these recently? lol You would be crazy to try spending any of those; Last time I checked (a number of months ago) they had aprox $13 worth of silver in them. Some retailers will still accept "discontinued" currency - and banks are *supposed* to take them. Every now and then I hear stories in the news of some elderly person having trouble sending or exchanging their 'silver' dollars, or fifty cent pieces - invariably there is always public outrage, and people lining up to buy them at face value from them. A couple years ago, a bank manager jokingly asked me if I wanted any silver dollars & fifty cent pieces - my response was akin to, "I'm a collector, you don't even need to ask - how much do you have?" Ha-ha!

Cleaned or not, keep them because you love them...they are a beautiful coin no matter what their worth. Most people, other than collectors, don't know of these and their grades, but you can be sure that those that don't know coins, would pay nicely to have one. I saw the other day Canadian paper money from 1984 and 1967 going for 45 dollars on a facebook auction site (3 CAD and 1 USD bills circulated)....but the person who had them up for auction made on the deal IMO.

I was talking about the nickel ones. Those are basically worth face value if they aren't uncirculated.
