look at how the rim is struck at 1:00, I don't think that could be replicated in a garage. I believe it is real.

I don't like it, but I am struggling to figure out exactly how it could have been made...

I am thinking someone cut a 1973 cent and then placed it on top and hit it with a hammer or squeezed it..

I am agreeing with Smallcentguy. 10 o'clock is also screaming foul play to me.

Twas hit by an 'early stage straight clip capped die' I dont think it would be very easy at all to replicate this in your garage but if I worked at the mint in 1973 I easily could. Although I think its one of those lucky ones that actually escaped on its own into circulation. just my opinion.

I think the flattened rims and marks at 10:00 on the obverse and 2:00 on the reverse indicate some kind of vise job, but who knows.

There are a 2 things I don't like but also 4 or 5 I do, so technically I'm still on the fence but leaning towards real error..just waiting to hear more from the pro's.

I don't think it is legit. If it was $9.99, I would take the chance... but at $99.00 I would not touch it...

My first impression was PMD. On closer inspection, the reverse is strongly struck corresponding to where the error is on the obverse. Outside of the error zone, the DA of CANADA appears to be weakly struck, as is the tip of one of the leaves. Maybe a real error. Overlapped image:
