Please let me know what you think of the 1881 in this group of Indian Head cents. The seller says the 1879 and 1880 are cleaned, but not the 1881. I don't think I've seen toning like this with the bright copper rims, but a greenish tone on the rest of the coin. Is this original? It certainly is a coin with a striking appearance. Thanks for your thoughts. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1879-1880-1...047675.l2557Paul Bulgerin

I'm thinking that all three have been messed with. I actually like the 1880 the best.

All three coins look the same to me, the 1879 is quite a hard one to find in fairly good condition. The only thing that bothers me is his feedback isn't the best.

Lovecoins . . . I wasn't asking if the coins were new. I was asking what people thought about the toning on the 1881. I have purchased from this seller before and was pleased with the coins I received, which were Indian Head cents.

Don't really like any of them. The rim color on the '81 contrasts too sharply with the rest of the coin.

That 1881 is an odd duck. Bright copper rims and toning the color of algae. At least it doesn't have globs of copper polish like I see on some ebay coins.

I looked at this lot, but decided to stay away as I thought all were cleaned. When it went over $50, I backed away.
If you won the lot, please post better pictures when they arrive. We all can benefit from seeing coins in different lights and angles.

Amazing - the three go for $125, even though he admits the first two are cleaned and I think we agree the 1881 has been fooled with as well.

I was in the bidding, but didn't win.
I would have loved to have been able to examine the 1881 "in hand". As I said, I don't think I've seen an Indian with that kind of toning.
