In my opinion, this coin design is one of the most beautiful in the modern era.

I love that design (franc) and the Saint-Gaudens double eagle ... that '19 is a stunning coin!

My favorite is the Walking Liberty half. The obverse is excellent (that is why it was chosen for the American Silver Eagle) I am usually not a fan of "body shots" on coins (they don't wear well,, F or lower grades especially) , but this is probably the best one. I like the reverse even better. IMHO, it is the best eagle design on any US coin, and there have been MANY. Also, it is a fairly large coin, whereas the "Mercury" dime, although a good design, is quite small.

Amongst the Canadian Coins I think it would be the Voyageur Dollar.

Top of the heap would certainly include UNA and the LION 1839 5 pound gold piece Great Britain.

I have recently grown to appreciate the skill that was put into the gold coins of Rome's golden age: Just the thought that an engraver sat down with a pick to carve each individual fold and ripple in Juno's gown... that level of attention to detail was not seen again for over a thousand years.

The Canadian Golden Jubilee 50 cent piece double dated 1952-2002 is one of my favourite coins. It features the coat of arms, royal cipher and a young crowned Queen Mother. Here is the first one that came up when I looked it up on ebayhttp://www.ebay.ca/itm/Canada-1952-...em1a03fed674
